Chris Cheng highlighted on Sunday

Chris Cheng Color vs. Colour CCFor today’s Sunny Sunday I’ve chosen someone who is greatly admired by colorists from all over the world, including me. Her name is Chris Cheng. I only know a little about her, nothing more than that she’s from Malaysia, left handed and that she has marvelous coloring skills.

Her first videos on YouTube and pictures on Facebook date from January 2016. The amount of subscribers on Youtube has risen from 18,653 in Oct. 2016 to 65,4K in Nov. 2019! On Facebook she had 3271 followers in Oct. 2016 and in Nov. 2019 that has grown to 7665 followers!

In Oct. 2016 Instagram showed that she had 14,6K followers, but her account has 29K followers in Nov. 2019. It gives quite an impression that what she does must be something special.

Chris Cheng colors lifelike

Well, what Chris Cheng does is truly special! I’ve never before seen someone coloring a woman’s face in a coloring book, with colored pencils, that after it was finished looked like a picture. In amazement and with open mouth I’ve watched her video where she shows how she did it.

Her use of colors is wonderful, often faithfully and lifelike, and with fantasy colors she does a great job as well.

I’m not patient enough, and don’t have the time, to color along with her videos. I can imagine though that there are a lot of colorists that do take the time and effort to discover new techniques and color combinations this way.

Well, who knows, maybe I will give it a try someday haha. For now I stick with watching her videos every now and then, only to enjoy all the beauty she shares with her followers.

Follow her on social media

As mentioned above Chris Cheng can be found on social media. The links are in the text, but for your convenience I’ll give them again below.

It’s definitely worthwhile to follow her when you’re interested in coloring, color compositions and coloring techniques!
